Tech Talk

CDG: An acronym for Compact Disc plus Graphics, this is a regular CD with information stored on a data track simultaneous to music. In laymen's terms, CDG has a video output for simple graphics (not full motion video). In the case of karaoke, the graphics function is used to store song lyrics, and display the lyrics in synch with the music. In most cases, CDG software displays lyrics, which change color as they are to be sung. A regular television is all that is required to display CDG lyrics.

Echo: Produced by creating minor controlled feedback in the singer's voice, echo adds depth and resonance. The echo function does not affect the music.

Auto Voice Control (AVC): This useful function is used primarily during practice sessions while a singer is learning a song. Please note that the AVC function only works with multiplex recordings and not with standard audio recordings.

Multiplex: A Multiplex allows you to separate the vocals and music by using the balance control on your Singing Machine Karaoke System.

This was a replacement for a Barbie Karaoke that never worked. Our granddaughter loves this karaoke so much that she has to "put on something cute" when she is singing with it!!!

My grandson is getting a kick out of the blinking lights and the noise. . .

3 out of 5 stars OMG!! It's broke already!!!   July 25, 2010

Purchased for a child...big mistake!!! Even with supervision it broke!!! The kids still play with it because they love the bright lights and I'll admit that it does LOOK nice. It hooked up to the tv nicely and everything functioned like it was supposed to. The workmanship just isn't the best quality. If buying for a child, just pony up the extra cash and get a more durable, 'made for kids' machine or you'll be wasting you money.

My daughter received this for Christmas. We were excited, but quickly disappointed. The words don't display correctly on the t.v. and the player part will skip. We are returning it to toysrus this weekend. Hopefully, the new one will work better. I emailed the company twice, but received no response.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Quality and Sorry Customer Service   January 12, 2010

Purchased for kids for christmas. Worked only the first time. Now it won't read any CDG (not even the demo that came with it). Contacted mfg via website twice, sent email to customer service from website, and left several messages on the customer service hotline -- NO RESPONSE in over 2 weeks. When it did work the first time, the words didn't keep up with the songs. Very frustrated and have some unhappy children. It's a shame to spend $60 on a Christmas gift that does not work! Guess I should have done some homework before purchasing this brand!!! Basically all we have now is an intercom system with disco lights!
